Genmitsu Kiosk 10W Review: Compact Laser Engraver & Cutter

The Sainsmart Genmitsu Kiosk 10W, a compact yet powerful laser engraver, is rapidly becoming one of my favourite go-to small-scale lasers. Despite its small size, the Kiosk demonstrates impressive build quality and versatility, making it a standout model among Sainsmart Genmitsu’s broad range of lasers and CNC machines. Available in 2.5, 5, and 10-watt power ratings, the Kiosk offers affordability without compromising on capabilities. In this review, I explore the 10-watt version, and test it by engraving on various materials. In conclusion, I will share my final thoughts and list of pros and cons.

Setup and Design

The Genmitsu Kiosk laser assembled quickly and was ready within a few minutes of unboxing, following the simple instructions in the manual. Setting up the laser on Lightburn was made simple with the supplied files on the micro-SD card. Which also has the Lightburn profile. You can also use a range of laser projects, such as brand logos and images, which I used throughout this review.
– Compact Design. The Kiosk Laser is a compact and portable laser engraver.
– Engraving Area. The ample 100 x 100 mm engraving area boasts high-speed performance of up to 12,000 mm/min and precision down to 0.01 mm, making it ideal for DIY and small business applications.

– Add-ons. The optional extras, such as the Kiosk Engraving Board and Kiosk Camera Module, will enhance this laser even more, giving you more control and quality. The Kiosk Rotary Roller is also optional.

– Laser Cutting. The option to upgrade with the Kiosk Engraving Board Kit could enhance the cutting abilities of the machine, while improved safety features ensure a secure working environment. The pre-assembled frame and comprehensive user support make it an ideal tool for unleashing your creativity on a variety of materials.

-Safety. Safety is a key feature of this machine. It automatically stops if the cover is opened or if it tilts too much, ensuring a safe environment. The one-button operation allows you to easily start, pause, or stop your projects.

In my unboxing video above, I show how effortlessly this compact laser handles crafting projects while maintaining a focus on safety.

Software

After assembling all the parts, the next step is to install the software. You have the option to use LightBurn, LaserGRBL, or both. The TF card includes files for setting up both. However, the lack of built-in Wi-Fi capabilities in the laser limits the options for wireless connectivity.

The supplied LightBurn .lbn file simplifies the setup process, ensuring a seamless configuration.

Testing and Results

– Testing Different Materials. In this section, I will show you the range of materials that the Genmitsu Kiosk laser can cut or engrave and the results it can achieve. There are options to add a rotary tool, but I didn’t get this item as part of my review package. Below, I tested the Kiosk’s capabilities with different materials and techniques.

Slate Stone Engraving

As part of my review of the Kiosk laser, I chose to laser engrave several slate coasters and wall signs. Due to the working area restrictions, I opted for smaller designs. The coasters featured images of the Joker from Batman and R2D2 from Star Wars by LaserDesignfile from Etsy. Both were converted into designs that were made for beautiful gifts. I operated the laser at 80% power and 4000 mm/min using LightBurn.

Custom engraved slate stone coasters can make wonderful gifts. The ability to engrave on such materials demonstrates the versatility of laser engravers. The Genmitsu Kiosk can easily handle such tasks, showcasing its competitive performance. On 3DWithUs, we offer a detailed guide on laser engraving on stone-like materials.

Wood and Leather Engraving

I also conducted several small keyring projects using dark wood, light wood, and leather, all with the same settings: 8000 mm/min and 50% power.

Wood Laser Cutting

Next, I created a Christmas letter holder for Santa by The Louisiana Hobby Guy, which was cut and engraved on the Genmistu Kiosk laser using 3mm birch plywood. I set the laser at 150 mm/min and 100% power to ensure a perfect cut. The project consisted of five individual pieces, which were then glued together to create this wonderful keepsake for Christmas.
